Photographer: Art Koch

The world is full of coincidences and meeting Art Koch was no exception!
Art and I couldn't be any more different.
For Example:
He's big, I'm little
He's older, I'm younger
He's wiser, I'm...well, still learning
He has a law degree, I have a BFA
He's married with kids, I'm still living at home (don't judge)
Get the point?
But what I find most interesting about all of this is that although Art and I have our differences, our work is extremely similar. Its actually quite fascinating to me...I mean here are two people who have never met before, who are in completely different stages of life, yet have identical works of art.

What better way to explore our interesting dynamic then with a photo shoot!

My top picks of the day:
Art had his work cut out for him, for I am not one to want my picture taken...hence why my face is covered in most of these. Great work Art!

My favorite part of the day? Working with my grandfathers magnifying glass.

Artist: Frank Caracciolo

Fashion's Night Out is wonderful because not only are you exposed to a plethora of different design perspectives, freebees and products, but you are also exposed to a variety of people.

The first and most memorable artist I had the pleasure of meeting that night was Frank Caracciolo.
Picture

We made small talk and it was at that time that he shared some words of wisdom which go against what many photographers and artists have told me in the past. His exact words escape my memory but his message remains embedded in my head.

In the past, artists and photographers have told me that this is a dying industry and that I should bite the bullet, move on and find a more secure job... But Caracciolo's message not only contrasted the words of others but inspired me to keep creating works of art.

Rather then move on, he advised me to move forward.
Stick with it. Keep creating art.
Believe in yourself and your artistic abilities and good things will come.

But enough about me, lets get to Frank!
Caracciolo's work is unique because he turns his beautiful oil paintings into wearable women's clothes. His designs are colorful and most definitely wearable.

Fashion's Night Out

Last year, I had the pleasure of shooting Elene Cassis and Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B collection for Fall Fashion week!
This being said, when I was asked to document this years Fashion's Night Out, I was more then happy to do so!

I mean whats not to love?
Champagne, high-end fashion, not to mention streets flooded with flamboyantly colorful and animated people!

PEOPLE. PLACES. DECOR.

Personally, I found the people who took part in Fashion's Night Out to be the most interesting part of the whole extravaganza
I was blown away by the art instillations showcased in the windows...at one point people served as mannequins, see below!
As if that wasn't creative enough, check out what I found to be the most inspiring part of Fashion's Night Out, taken at Louis Vuitton:

Out of all the places I photographed for Fashion Night Out, YSL had the biggest commotion! Why? Nicki Minaj.
Fans went BANANAS! Not only for Nicki, but for who accompanied her.

Minaj's best and cutest accessory? This little girl!

Escape to New York Festival Part Deux!

Atmosphere - Scenery - Art

Despite the festival being rained out on Sunday (buzzkill), the overall atmosphere and vibe was a good one! Both venders and festi- goers seemed to be enjoying themselves, projecting positive energy all around! Overall there was a very patriotic vibe, why? I have absolutely no idea, but it was pleasantly refreshing!

Scenery & Art

What's wonderful about this festival is the ever evolving scenery!
Something I like to refer to as the "day and night factor." During the day, these artworks appear to be somewhat aesthetically appealing and odd... but at night, each piece becomes illuminated, brining new meaning and life to each and every piece.

My Kind Of Wedding Photography

TRADITION.
My widgit dictionary (now, why some cheeseball would pair a lame term that rhymes with midget with the best invention ever is beyond me, but it is one of the more important gadgets I have on my desktop), defines
tradition as:

• a long-established custom or belief that has been passed on in this way
•
an artistic or literary method or style established by an artist, writer, or movement, and subsequently followed by others Auh yes, tradition...it's a beautiful thing

Tradition...it's a beautiful thing
For example, in the Jewish religion for Yom Kippur, it is tradition (at least in my family)  to fast, so for the sake of being "jew-ish," I don't eat any food until I get the nod of approval.

Care for
another example based on a less confrontational subject?

okay, how bout this: Every Saturday, for the last four years of my life, there would be something I and every single other Wolverine would like to refer to as GAME DAY. However, these games weren't your average run of the mill college ball games...Us Wolverines have a lot of pride and I chose to show mine during game day.

It was tradition for me to put on the most ridiculous outfit I could find, take 3 story beer bongs to the face, collect numerous jello shots of god knows what from numerous frats on my waltz down to the "big house," proceed to be thrown up (no not throw up,
thrown up) into the air by a bunch of equally inebriated boys during every touch-down, only to top the night off with some thai food take out.

RINSE & REPEAT

Tradition...it's also a subjective thing
I bet you're wondering by now where the hell I am going with all of this... and at this point I think its safe to say I wanted to type all of this nonsense out for the sake of humoring myself but I won't waste anymore of your time!

I've assisted numerous wedding photographers for over 2 years now, and sadly, they all appear to be quite jaded. Granted they are selling their souls to bridezillas and neglecting their loved ones of valuable weekend time but still. Often I find that although wedding photography is where the bucks are, most wedding photographers are miserable!

NOT ME. I've chosen to take a different approach to wedding photography.

MY KIND OF WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY!

Sure I can give you the traditional shots you've seen taken of your parents on their special day from albums past, but don't you want something more modern? something more edgy? Times are changing, albums are transforming into coffee table books and the more weddings I attend, the more brides I see taking less of a conservative approach.

Below are my top 3 photographs from the previous wedding I shot
Enjoy the slideshow!

Will you be this relaxed for your special day?

I thoroughly enjoy weddings.

Jovial People. Positive Energy. Great Vibes

If I'm not attending one, I'm assisting a photographer at one and sometimes I even have the pleasure of being a second shooter. Being a second shooter allows me to depict my creativity to its utmost potential. There are no boundaries. As a second shooter, I leave the boring more traditional shots up to the main photographer and the more avant-garde photos up to me!

So I ask you...Will you be this relaxed on your special day?
